Generate a WaniKani API token
Visit your WaniKani settings, create a read-only personal access token. Takes ten seconds.
Paste it on the login page
The token is stored only in your browser and is never sent to a Wanilog server. Your stats stay on your device unless you choose to publish a public profile or sync achievements.
See your progress
Initial sync runs once (about 30 seconds for a level 60 account). After that the app works offline.
Common questions.
Is Wanilog really free?
Yes. No subscription, no signup, no ads. It is a personal side project.
Does Wanilog need my WaniKani password?
No. You generate a read-only personal access token in WaniKani settings; that is what you paste.
Is this a replacement for wkstats?
Yes. Same idea, modern and mobile-first, with projections, coverage, leech training, and an installable offline PWA.
Where is my data stored?
Your device, by default. Your kanji progress stays in your browser unless you opt in to publishing a public profile or syncing achievements, which store a small subset on a server.
